Skin in the Game

This coming Sunday I’m looking forward to having my old friends, Dr Andrew Madry and Doug Pyeatt, with me on the panel. If I can track down Father John Ashfield, we may even get some pre-recorded wisdom from him as well. Either way, do please join us from midday this Sunday at TheSundayEucharist.com or on Facebook , YouTubeTwitterLinkedIn or Streamyard.

I do look forward to sharing this Eucharist with you. 😊

What’s On?

At the Russian embassy in Sydney, supporting the Aussie Cossack

If you don’t recognise everyone in the pic above, I’m with Aussie Cossack’s support team,  and we were outside the Russian embassy in Sydney last Monday.

I accepted an invitation from the Cossack to become his personal boxing trainer, but when I got to the embassy, they refused to admit me! I’ll include below the video of my exchange at the front gate of the embassy (most of which was in Russian).

If you don’t know the Cossack (Simeon Boikov), he’s a controversial character who advocates for for human rights and for Russia. Whatever you might think of him, he surely has a right to health and safety if he’s really being offered sanctuary. I’ll keep you up-to-date on any developments.

As for the rest of our world, it’s been a deeply disturbing week. The visit of the Israeli Prime Minister to the US has taken us to a critical point in world affairs. A global conflict looks almost inevitable.

I couldn’t bring myself to watch all of Netanyahu’s speech to the US Congress. I managed a couple of minutes and then had to turn it off. It was just too painful.

According to Richard Medhurst (who evidently did manage to watch it all), the Prime Minister’s estimate of civilian casualties in Gaza was “practically none”. Given that the official death toll there is now at 39,000, such a statement seems as absurd as it is perverse. Moreover, we have all seen countless images of women and children being blown to pieces. Is Mr Netanyahu being cynical, or does he really expect us to believe what he says rather than accept the evidence of our own eyes?

It’s hard to maintain hope when you see congressmen and women give a standing ovation in response to such baldfaced lies. Are they really being fooled or are they already committed to starting a third world war? Either way, it’s deeply disheartening, and we can only put our hope in the Almighty. Have mercy, Lord God, and overrule this insanity that is driving us towards self-destruction.

Of course, there was one woman in the US Congress who refused to bow the knee to the God of war. Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib held up signs saying, “War Criminal” and “Guilty of Genocide” during Netanyahu’s address. She is the only Palestinian ever to be elected to Congress, and other members of Congress are now suggesting that she should be ‘run out of town’. May God bless and protect her.

Anyway … we will do our best to keep www.israelandpalestine.org up to date as things evolve. Keep praying with me that some godly leaders might yet emerge who can pluck us out of this fire that we are building before it is too late.

May the Lord bless and strengthen you for the work for which you have been called.
